Pwnage Tool - Custom firmware
I've had an iPod touch for a while now (it was a gift from Eleanor for my birthday). Very early on I jailbroke it, and it was definitely worth it, so many more great apps once that is done.
So, as soon as firmware 2.0 came along, and a jailbreak came out, in the form of the Pwnage Tool, I had to give it a go. It's such a simple tool to use, and there are so many tutorials out there on how to do it (just Google it) I'm not going to write up on the basic aspect of the tool.
I have just created a custom firmware with many apps and bundles installed, it's installing to my Touch right now. Fingers crossed that it works!
What I couldn't get to work correctly though was the 'Custom Packages' section of the Pwnage Tool. This section should allow me to add more applications directly into the firmware bundle, but for some reason any custom packages that I create are not showing up in the Pwnage Tool. It's a bit annoying, but not the end of the world. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the Pwnage Tool (I've read some similar problems on forums), or if it's because of some changes in where the Pwnage Tool searches for Custom Packages, I read somewhere else that had changed too, but I'm tried that location and it still didn't work. It might be me, I've never tried to do it before, but I did follow a tutorial that other people had used and that worked, so I'm guessing it's because of an update to 2.0.3 Pwnage Tool.
... Good news, my Touch is restoring from my last backup (performed just before the update)... it will take a few hours though... so I won't know if it worked for a while... I'll keep you posted.
