PhD, Engineering, Tech - Updates
Not having an abundance of free time these days, my website is a little unloved, but not forgotten. I decided to write up a few updates on my Nexus 1, my PhD, and the latest websites I'm working on.
Starting with my PhD, I'm making good progress,
I'm fleshing out an experiment I'm going to run shortly, it is based on server power management. I have a good grip on what needs to be simulated and what to analyse, hopefully I'll have that all locked down in the next few days.
My Nexus One has been giving me some extra grief lately. I updated to Froyo 2.2, and it is amazing, the wi-fi hotspot is one of the best inventions ever. Having said that, my phone is failing at phone tasks, such as sms and occasionally phone calls at a level that is way too high for my liking (sms fail to send approximately 30% of the time). Also, 32GB microSDHC cards are available now, and I want one! I'll wait until the price comes down a little first though, it's a bit steep per GB for the time being.
I'm working on several sites at the moment, unfortunately I can't really specify what I'm doing, I don't discuss sites until they are launched, I don't want clients ideas leaking out. I am working on some interesting projects though, and I should have one new [alpha] site up and running this weekend, I'll post once it goes live. The site is an interesting concept; the alpha will be very limited in terms of what it can do, but the ideas behind it are much grander. There is one aspect in particular that I like, I'll tell more once it's live.
